Our Key Programmes
Mai Gong Bo Jio:
A Coffee Corner Community
Initiative
A Saturday coffee corner uniting seniors and youth to build bonds, reduce isolation, and foster empathy and leadership.
HUG's Mai Gong Bo Jio Programme is a weekly Saturday morning coffee corner that goes beyond breakfast—it fosters intergenerational bonding through meaningful conversations and shared experiences. This simple yet powerful initiative brings together the elderly and youth, promoting empathy, respect, and community spirit.
It offers the elderly a sense of purpose and connection, while giving students hands-on opportunities to serve, lead, and learn. Through this, HUG nurtures unity, combats isolation, and cultivates a compassionate, engaged community.

HUG'S Healer Programme
A therapeutic programme using dog interaction to support mental well-being, reduce stress, and ease loneliness for youth, desistors, and seniors. Pet owners are welcome to join as 'paw-parents' to share these benefits with the community.
HUG’s Healer Programme – a heartfelt initiative that harnesses the therapeutic power of dogs to promote mental and emotional well-being. Our Dog Interaction sessions benefit youth, desistors, and seniors by easing stress, lifting moods, and fostering connection.
Through shared activities with therapy dogs, participants experience reduced anxiety and loneliness, while building a community of 'paw-parents' who help extend these benefits to others. Animal interaction also serves as an effective icebreaker, especially for those facing emotional barriers or dementia-related agitation.
If you’re a dog or rabbit owner, we invite you to join us in spreading comfort and joy through our animal-assisted activities.
Note: HUG does not certify therapy dogs; assessments are solely to ensure suitability for participation in our programmes.

Lives Shaping Programme (LSP):
Reintegration Programme
This mentorship programme supports desistors through training and skill-building, guiding them to give back through weekly service and mentorship as they reintegrate into society.
This mentorship programme continues from HUG2Hearts, allowing in-care Befrienders to journey alongside inmates as they reintegrate into society. It empowers desistors by enabling them to support others with similar backgrounds, fostering transformation through purpose and service.
Desistors join HUG as community helpers and undergo training or apprenticeships. Those interested in social work may be supported to study at institutions like SSI. Others may pursue alternate paths—such as hairdressing—through our partner organisations. Regardless of their path, desistors commit to weekly check-ins with mentors and use their skills to give back to the community.

HUG2Hearts: In-Care Programme
We empower inmates through skill-building and therapeutic programmes, helping them heal, grow, and prepare for reintegration into society.
At HUG Community, we’re committed to positively impacting inmates’ lives through our in-care programme. Believing in rehabilitation, our prison workshops aim to support personal growth and skill-building.
For A4 Female Inmates, we’ve curated therapeutic programmes like flower arranging and hair grooming. These activities offer emotional relief, boost confidence, and equip inmates with valuable new skills for the future.
At the Reformative Training Centre (RTC), our Triumph Dunk basketball programme builds more than athletic ability. It fosters teamwork, leadership, and camaraderie—key to rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
