Buka Puasa Dinner 2024

On the 30th of March, HUG embodied the spirit of togetherness as we came together to break fast in celebration of Ramadan. Volunteers and residents alike gathered for a heartwarming Buka Puasa dinner. As the sun dipped, marking the end of the day’s fast, we joined hands in gratitude for the blessings of Ramadan and the opportunity to share this sacred time with one another. It was an important reminder of the rich cultural cohesion that binds us together here in our beloved country.

Amidst the festivities, there were also a palpable sense of unity and understanding, bridging gaps and fostering friendships across diverse backgrounds. It’s moments like these that remind us of the beauty of diversity and the strength that comes from standing together as one. Our student volunteers can attest that they’ve learned multiple new insights from conversing with our Muslim residents here at Toa Payoh, that allowed to broaden their comprehension of the importance of this holy month.

What made the occasion even more special was the gracious presence of our patron, Mr. Chee Hong Tat, Minister for National Development. His presence added a touch of honour to our gathering, emphasising the importance of unity and solidarity that is necessary to form such a warm community.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our student volunteers who dedicated their weekend and effort to make this event possible. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive community where everyone feels valued and celebrated.

Ramadan Mubarak to all who observe, and may the spirit of unity, love, care and compassion continue to guide us through the days ahead!
