HUG's Christmas and One Year Anniversary Mai Gong Bo Jio 2024

On the 14th of December, we celebrated our Christmas Mai Gong Bo Jio, which also marked one year of the Mai Gong Bo Jio programme. Our wonderful host Lee Lay Cheng (better known as HappyFeiFei) brought the festive spirit with her singing, entertainment, and a community dance session that got everyone involved. We were thrilled to have over 100 elderly residents join us, along with Mr Chee Hong Tat, Minister for National Development who attended and joined in with the community dancing, and preparing some singing performances for the elderly, making the event even more memorable.

Events like this are more than just festive celebrations—they bring our community closer together, bridging generations and fostering bonds that are so important for our seniors’ well-being. They remind us of the joy and comfort that come from connecting with others, especially for those who may otherwise feel isolated. We’re incredibly grateful for the support of our sponsors and volunteers, who make it possible to create these moments of joy.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Hai Di Lao Singapore for providing the delicious food and sponsoring the goody bags and their continuous support, Kundal Singapore for donating shampoo, hair treatment, and hand sanitiser and Truly Nuts Singapore for contributing their mixed nut packets which went into our goody bags for the community. We thank our friends at Durian Grandpa for coming by with fresh fruit for the elderly as well.

This event also welcomed a new group of volunteers from Raffles Girls’ School, who were experiencing their first time supporting our community. It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm and care they brought, and we look forward to their continued involvement in future events.

Here’s to more years of nurturing the Kampong spirit and building a stronger, more connected community together.
