HUG Intergenerational Chinese New Year Dinner 2026

On 7 February 2026, HUG Community gathered at the Block 200 void deck for our Intergenerational Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner. As tables filled and families arrived, the space was transformed into a warm and lively setting where seniors, volunteers, youths and partners came together to mark the new year side by side.

We were honoured to welcome Minister Chee Hong Tat , who took time to speak with and greet our elderly residents, listening to their stories and sharing in the festive spirit. We were also glad to have MP Elysa Chen  join us. Her visit and heartfelt singing brought smiles across the crowd and added a personal touch to the evening.

The programme reflected the strength of community partnerships across generations. Students from Beatty Secondary School @beattysecsch presented an energetic wushu performance that drew enthusiastic applause, while various singing items filled the void deck with familiar celebratory tunes. Breakthrough Missions delivered a meaningful vocal set, and Carol’s erhu performance added a  distinctly festive note to the night.

We are grateful to Hai Di Lao for their generous gift boxes and for sponsoring the lohei, which brought everyone to their feet to toss for prosperity, health and togetherness in the year ahead.

For many of our elderly, reunion dinners can be quieter in recent years. By coming together across generations, we reaffirm that no one celebrates alone. We remain committed to building spaces where every generation feels seen, valued and connected.
