What better way to celebrate our nation’s 60th birthday than by spreading healing and love to our neighbours and countrymen. On 9 August 2025, HUG Community joined the celebrations at the Marine Crescent National Day Pets Carnival, bringing along our wonderful therapy animals Courage, Mercy and Holy.
Our booth was a warm and lively space where the community could meet our therapy dogs, learn more about the HUG Healers Programme, and understand how animal assisted intervention can bring comfort, emotional support and connection to those who need it most. We met families, pet lovers, and curious visitors who were eager to interact with our animals and hear about the meaningful work they do.
Pastor Jeff and Dr Lee Cheng also took to the stage to share insights about the training process for our therapy animals and the many ways this work benefits individuals, from improving mental health to encouraging social interaction and confidence building. Their words helped shine a light on the dedication and heart behind the programme.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated volunteers who took the time to be part of the event. From managing the booth and speaking with visitors to caring for Courage, Mercy and Holy throughout the day, your presence made all the difference. It was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together in kindness and service.
As we marked Singapore’s 60th year, we were reminded that building a caring society starts with small, meaningful acts – and we are grateful to have shared that spirit with everyone who stopped by to say hello!
