On March 2nd 2024, HUG Community hosted a truly memorable event - our Intergenerational Community Chinese New Year Dinner!
We had an incredible spread of delectable Chinese cuisine that graced our tables, tantalising our taste buds and warming our hearts. A culinary adventure that we knew everyone would love!
But the feast for the senses didn't end there. Our guests were treated to captivating performances by the talented students of Beatty Secondary School, showcasing the rich heritage of Chinese culture through enchanting melodies of the Chinese Orchestra and mesmerising displays of Wushu. The applause echoed throughout the venue, a testament to the awe and appreciation felt by all. And we thank the students for working tremendously hard on their pieces which incredible to witness!
As the evening progressed, three remarkable student volunteers - Nu Tian, Charlotte, and Cateline - took to the stage to share their heartfelt experiences of serving within the HUG Community. Their stories illuminated the power of intergenerational connection and the transformative impact of giving back to the community. Their speeches are gentle reminders of what the HUG Community is truly about and what we will continue to impart to the next generation of leaders - a place where students are allowed to learn, experience, and develop their capacity in service.
And of course, our hearts swelled with pride as we welcomed our patron Mr. Chee Hong Tat, Minister for National Development, who graced the event with his presence. His words of encouragement and appreciation resonated deeply as he presented awards to our generous sponsors and commendations to our inspiring youth leaders.
As the night drew to a close, amidst laughter and camaraderie, we were reminded once again of the beauty of unity, the richness of tradition, and the boundless potential of intergenerational connections.
Thank you donors and sponsor Mr Andy Hoon and Mr Lim Ser Chang and everyone who made this unforgettable evening possible - our volunteers, sponsors, performers, and, most importantly, our beloved guests. See you all in the next one!
