Mai Gong Bo Jio Dragon Boat Festival 2025

A Heartfelt Dragon Boat Festival Celebration!

On the 31st of May, HUG Community came together to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival with a warm breakfast gathering at our usual neighbourhood spot during our Mai Gong Bo Jio. The morning was filled with friendly conversations, the gentle bustle of activity, and the shared joy of preparing something meaningful for our elderly guests.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated community and student volunteers who helped serve the morning meal with patience and grace. Apart from the volunteers’ efforts, we are sincerely thankful to Hai Di Lao for their continuous generous sponsorship of the delicious breakfast. And to mark this occasion we are especially grateful to Kim Choo Kueh Chang for their generous contribution of their amazing Bak Chang, which were gifted to our elderly as a festive treat. Their kindness added a thoughtful touch to the occasion and reminded us of the value of generosity during cultural celebrations.

This festival, rooted in remembrance and loyalty, also speaks to something we hold dear, our collective unity in action. Just as paddlers in a dragon boat must move in sync to make progress, our work in the community requires the same rhythm of trust, support, and shared purpose. It is through these everyday efforts be it showing up, sharing food, lending a hand that we move forward together.

Thank you to everyone who made the morning meaningful. Each act of care, no matter how small, helps to carry the spirit of togetherness beyond the day itself.
