HUG marked the second anniversary of Mai Gong Bo Jio on 22 November 2025, with a meaningful gathering that brought our community, partners and long-time supporters together. This year’s celebration carried special weight, as we revealed the new mural in the presence of Mr Chee Hong Tat , the Commissioner of Prisons, Ms Shie Yong Lee and Mr Sunny Lee, Chief Executive of Yellow Ribbon Singapore.
This year’s celebration was made even more meaningful with the unveiling of our brand-new community mural, created together with residents, volunteers, desistors, and our partners from Yellow Ribbon Singapore. We were deeply honoured to host our guest of honours for this special milestone!
Ms Shie Yong Lee’s presence, in particular, reminded us how strong support from public institutions can uplift community-led efforts. Her encouragement energised everyone, a powerful affirmation that our work matters.
Two years of Mai Gong Bo Jio. What started as a simple idea, a simple Saturday coffee corner has grown into a warm, bustling community corner powered by heart, humanity, and hope. This anniversary reflects two years of conversations, meals shared, friendships built, and doors opened for those rebuilding their lives.
To every volunteer who painted with us, cooked with us, cleaned with us, and stayed with us, thank you! To our sponsors and friends from Hai Di Lao and Durian Grandpa Pte Ltd your contribution makes our whole programme possible. Your consistency is the reason this space thrives. Your belief is the reason people dare to return.
Here’s to the next chapter of Mai Gong Bo Jio and continuing to build a community where everyone has a place, and no one walks alone!
