SG60 Threads of Unity Fundraising Event

05 July 2025

On the 5th of July, we came together for SG60 Threads of Unity, a special evening that celebrated Singapore’s 60th birthday in a way only the community can. Organised by HUG Community Services, this intergenerational fashion show brought seniors, youth volunteers and our desistor volunteers onto the runway, walking with pride, courage and purpose.

In partnership with Ans.Ein, the outfits were made from designs created during a community calligraphy workshop. Every piece carried meaning. Every step on the runway carried stories of rebuilding, of care, of standing strong together. This was a gathering where lived experience was honoured and dignity celebrated.
One of the most moving moments was when our furry Pawlunteers from the Healer Programme joined in. Guided by their youth handlers, they reminded us that healing often arrives quietly, through presence, patience and unconditional care for one another.

We were honoured to have Minister Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim with us, as well as the warm and generous presence of MP Elysa Chen, MP Cai Yinzhou and Commissioner of Prisons Mdm Shie Yong Lee for their steadfast support in the event.

We also extend our gratitude to Breakthrough Missions, who gave a touching performance and welcomed our guests with grace.

To every model, volunteer, pawlunteer, guest, partner and supporter — thank you to Mr Oei Hong Leong from Singapore Pools for your sponsorship, Vintage Studios for styling our models, and Hai Di Lao Singapore, Kim Choo Kueh Chang, Kim Guan Guan Coffee for feeding our bellies and hearts, your friendship and contribution made all the difference.

We’re also thankful to Zhen Bird's Nest, Arthesdam Jewellery and Three Star Brand Singapore for their thoughtful contributions to the goody bags as well.

Funds raised go directly towards HUG’s work with ex-offenders, isolated seniors, families and at-risk youth. Threads of Unity reminds us that everyone has a place in this shared home.
