HUG Community Services proudly received the People’s Association Community Spirit Awards 2023 – The Merit Award, a testament to our commitment to community service. Presented on July 25th, 2023, by DC Edwin Tong, Second Minister of Law of Singapore, this honour underscores our dedication to giving back, alongside our esteemed patron, Mr. Chee Hong Tat. We extend heartfelt gratitude to our incredible team, donors, volunteers, and supporters for their unwavering belief in our mission to serve incarcerated youth and vulnerable beneficiaries. This award belongs to them, as they stood by us through thick and thin, especially during the challenges of the past year's pandemic. Their encouragement and support have propelled us forward, and we commend our team for their hard work and dedication.

At HUG Community, we understand the pivotal role of positive family support in the rehabilitation journey of inmates and ex-offenders, crucial in breaking the cycle of reoffending. On Father’s Day 2022, in collaboration with the Singapore Prison Service, our dedicated volunteers organised a special flower arrangement workshop tailored for women inmates. These beautifully crafted bouquets, accompanied by heartfelt handwritten cards, were delivered to their fathers, marking a poignant moment for many—a first opportunity to gift their fathers. Beyond expressing gratitude, this event provided inmates with a platform to reflect on their past, extend amends to their families, and foster the rebuilding of familial relationships.
