Intergeneration Chinese New Year Community Dinner 2025

On 23 February 2025, HUG Community Services hosted a special Intergenerational Chinese New Year Community Dinner, uniting individuals of all ages for an evening of warmth, celebration, and connection. Sponsored by Haidilao, the event featured a festive hotpot dinner that enhanced the lively atmosphere.

The evening showcased vibrant performances celebrating community talent. Students from Raffles’ Girls School and Beatty Secondary School delivered creative and energetic acts, while Haidilao’s team enthralled guests with spirited performances. Breakthrough Missions added their unique touch to the program, and a standout moment came from Beatty Secondary School’s Chinese Orchestra, whose traditional melodies captivated the audience.

Mr. Chee Hong Tat, Minister of Transport and Second Minister for Finance, attended the event, engaging with attendees and presenting awards to sponsors and volunteers in recognition of their vital contributions.

In his opening address, Mr. Chee highlighted HUG Community Services as a beacon of compassion, empathy, respect, and inclusiveness, emphasising its role in supporting vulnerable youth, seniors, and ex-offenders without judgment. He paid tribute to seniors, underscoring that Singapore’s progress rests on their sacrifices. Quoting the proverb, “When you drink water, remember its source,” he urged younger generations to embrace gratitude, care for the community, and honour pioneers.

The event, supported by People’s Association and Breakthrough Missions, underscored the power of shared experiences in strengthening community bonds. Such gatherings foster intergenerational connections, offering seniors a sense of inclusion and reducing isolation, while inspiring youth to value tradition and collective responsibility.

HUG extends heartfelt gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers. Here’s to nurturing more moments of unity and care within our community!
