On the 27th of March, HUG Community had the fantastic opportunity to participate at NVPC’s State of Play 2025. The ‘State of Play’ event allowed community partners to connect with companies, building impactful collaborations and exploring ways to address gaps in the non-profit sector. We were excited to share what we do with fellow organisations and attendees, showcasing the important role our programmes play in the community. Courage, Mercy, and Holy, our beloved therapy animals, were with us to spread some joy and introduce people to the HUG Healers Programme.

We were also thrilled to be featured in a Zaobao article, which highlighted HUG Community’s involvement at the event, alongside an insightful discussion on the current landscape of donations. The article touched on the increase in the number of donors last year despite a slight dip in overall donations, and we were honoured to be part of a wider conversation about charitable giving and sustainability.

Minister Edwin Tong even stopped by our booth, spending some time with our therapy dogs and learning more about how we use animal-assisted activities to support and connect with the people we serve. This recognition was incredibly heartwarming, and it underscores the growing importance of collaborations between organisations like HUG and others within the sector. And as we come to celebrate SG60 this year, the increase in the focus on the contributions of the social service sector has been truly encouraging.

As we reflect on the event and our involvement, it’s clear that we, as a community, need to keep pushing forward together. Not just about what each organisation can achieve individually, but about how we can all support one another in our efforts to create meaningful change. Working hand in hand, we can make a bigger impact and ensure that everyone has a role to play in building a more caring society.

Let’s keep these conversations going and continue lifting each other up, it’s the little steps that bring us closer to making a real difference!
